Are you an experienced Electronic Systems & Sensors Engineer with SC clearance looking for your next challenge in defence? Our client, a leading defence company based in Bristol, is seeking a Contract Senior Electronic Systems & Sensors Engineer to join their team on a hybrid basis with 1 day per week onsite. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical Position, Navigation & Timing (PNT) projects that make a real difference.

In this position, you'll be responsible for delivering key PNT projects, providing expert advice, technical leadership and ensuring successful outcomes. Working closely under the guidance of the Programme Manager and Engineering Manager, your expertise will support the development and realisation of innovative electronic and sensor systems integral to defence operations.

What you'll be doing:

  • Own the generation and management of Electronic Systems & Sensors (ESS) requirements, ensuring clear technical deliverables and documentation.
  • Analyse technical hazards and project impacts, contributing to risk reduction measures and comprehensive documentation.
  • Lead the design of systems, components, or processes that meet customer needs within cost, time, and performance constraints.
  • Manage the entire ESS lifecycle, including testing, verification, validation, and evaluation stages to ensure quality and compliance.

What we're looking for:

  • A Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics qualification at RQF Level 4 or higher.
  • Proven experience providing technical advice and delivering successful electronic or mechatronic outcomes.
  • Demonstrable leadership in electronic or mechatronic projects, with the ability to guide and influence across teams.
  • Professional registration, such as IEng, RSci, RMarTech, Adv RITTech, or CPhys, demonstrating recognised industry standards.
  • Experience related to Position, Navigation & Timing systems and/or Global Navigation Satellite Systems will be highly regarded.

Security & Contract Details:

  • Minimum SC clearance required; DV clearance preferred.
  • Day rates between £420 and £570 (inside IR35).
  • Contract until September 2026, with scope for extension.
  • Based in Bristol, with a flexible hybrid working arrangement.
