We are working with a leading defence client to find an experienced Environmental Engineer for a contract role based primarily in Bristol, with a flexible hybrid working arrangement (three days onsite in Bristol and one in Merthyr Tydfil each week). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Ajax Programme, supporting environmental compliance and engineering in a high-profile defence environment.

About the role

In this position, you will provide vital environmental engineering support across the Ajax programme, ensuring that environmental management systems and legislative requirements are effectively implemented. You'll lead assurance activities, manage environmental risks, and support critical air quality and toxicity testing efforts. In doing so, you'll produce and review environmental documentation, maintain governance arrangements, and offer expert advice to project leadership.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining Ajax's environmental management and governance frameworks
  • Leading environmental compliance and assurance activities
  • Managing environmental risks, impacts, and hazardous materials
  • Supporting air quality, toxicity, and human-in-the-loop testing
