Job Description Are you an Safety Engineer looking to play a pivotal role within defence programmes?
Our client, a respected leader in the defence sector, is seeking a Safety Engineer with SC clearance, to support their in-service fleet activities.
Based in Bristol with flexible hybrid working, this is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to critical military projects on a long-term contract until March 2027.
Your focus will be within the In-service Pillar, responsible for all engineering and support activities related to the in-service fleet.
You will provide technical safety support for demonstration activities, ensuring compliance with safety policies and standards, and supporting continuous safety assurance throughout the lifecycle of the fleet.
Key Responsibilities Manage and coordinate safety-related activities, producing In-service safety documentation under the guidance of the Senior Safety Responsible.
Collaborate closely with safety functions to align demonstration activities with overall safety frameworks and risk strategies.
Review safety implications and provide engineering input to uphold safety standards and mitigate risks during demonstration phases.
Liaise with engineering and project teams to resolve safety issues related to design changes and operational impacts.
Maintain accurate records of safety assessments, concessions, and approvals, ensuring traceability and compliance.
Support the development and implementation of safety procedures and best practices for in-service activities.
Participate in safety audits, reviews, and reporting to support ongoing safety assurance activities.
Ensure all activities adhere to relevant safety standards, regulations, and organisational policies.
Proven experience in delivering safety systems, offering technical safety advice within complex projects.
A background in supporting safety activities within defence or similar in-service environments is advantageous.
Experience managing safety activities within large defence programmes (GMPP/CAT A) is desirable.
A formal safety qualification or training would be beneficial but is not essential.

Location: Bristol (3 days onsite), Merthyr Tydfil (1 day onsite), 1 day remote working per week.
