Are you an experienced Electronic Systems & Sensors Engineer with SC or DV clearance and a passion for defence technology? Our client, a leading organisation in the defence sector, is seeking a talented professional to join their team in Bristol on a Contract basis. This role offers the flexibility of hybrid working, with 2 to 3 days onsite per week, ensuring a balance between collaboration and home comfort. This is an exciting opportunity to work within the PNT (Position, Navigation & Timing) programme, delivering critical systems that support operational success. You will be responsible for generating requirements, defining technical deliverables, managing system design, and overseeing testing, verification, and validation processes. Your expertise will directly contribute to national security and defence capabilities.
What you will be doing:
- Leading the generation of ESS (Electronic Subsystem) requirements, ensuring clear technical documentation and consideration for in-service support and costs.
- Analysing hazards and project impacts, and contributing to risk mitigation strategies.
- Managing system design within constraints of time, budget, and performance expectations.
- Overseeing the entire ESS testing, verification, and validation lifecycle.
- Providing expert advice across defence on PNT best practices and supporting operational activities.
What we're looking for:
- A Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics qualification at RQF Level 4 or above.
- Proven experience delivering successful electronic or mechatronic outcomes, with a history of providing technical advice.
- Strong background in Position, Navigation & Timing technologies and/or Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) is highly desirable.
- Professional registration as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng), Registered Scientist (RSci), Registered Marine Technologist (RMarTech), Advanced Registered IT Technician (Adv RITTech), or Chartered Physicist (CPhys).
What we offer:
- Competitive day rate of up to £570 (inside IR35).
- Contract until 30/06/2026, with scope for long term renewal.
