Are you an experienced safety professional with a strong background in missile safety programmes, MOD safety cases, and OSRP submissions? We are partnering with a leading defence client to find a highly skilled Weapons System Safety Manager for a critical role based in Bristol, with an option for hybrid working. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge missile projects such as LMM and Martlet, supporting the delivery of vital defence capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the annual review and updates of the SECRs for the LMM and Martlet Weapons Systems, including associated safety management plans.
- Providing expert safety advice to the SIAD Chief Engineer, particularly on operational requirement changes and safety regulator engagement.
- Managing safety documentation updates for the LMM A3 variant and supporting the introduction of the LMM E2 variant, including OSRP submissions and safety activities across platform teams.
- Drafting and managing safety waivers and stakeholder correspondence, including PSEP stakeholders and safety working groups such as HLWG and MISWG.
- Facilitating safety assessments for storage and operational deployment, ensuring compliance with MOD safety standards and regulator requirements.
What we are looking for:
- This role is suited to someone with proven experience in missile or weapon safety programmes, with familiarity of MOD safety cases and OSRP procedures.
- You should have a solid understanding of maritime, air, and land safety regulations, along with excellent stakeholder management skills across multiple organisations.
- Ability to remain composed under pressure and communicate complex safety concepts clearly to duty holders are essential.
- Ability to evaluate operating risks outside of formal Safety Cases to support Duty Holders operational requests.
Location: MOD Abbeywood, Bristol (hybrid working 2/3 days onsite)
Contract: Security Clearance: SC (must be cleared to this level)
Day Rate: Up to £570 per day (inside IR35)
