Are you an experienced SC cleared Safety Engineer looking for your next challenge in a dynamic maritime environment? Evodia Limited is working on behalf of a prestigious client to find talented professionals to support their Safety Manager across multiple maritime equipment projects. If you have a strong background in delivering safety systems and engineering outcomes within regulated environments, this could be the opportunity for you.
Due to the tight timescales involved, successful candidates are required to already hold a valid SC security clearance.
Role Overview
Based in Bristol with a flexible hybrid working arrangement, this role offers a mix of onsite and remote working, requiring three days onsite in Bristol each week. You will be providing vital safety advice and technical guidance to ensure the safe design, development, and life-cycle management of maritime equipment. Your expertise will help deliver compliant safety solutions, supporting the successful acquisition and integration of complex systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate and manage technical safety requirements and documentation for sub-systems, including safety system design to meet high integrity levels.
- Support the development and management of Safety Management Systems, ensuring hazards are identified, risks are evaluated, and mitigation plans are effectively documented.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation, regulation, policies, and standards, delivering comprehensive technical documentation for sub-systems.
- Analyse and escalate risk issues across safety, environment, support, and financial areas, applying sound risk management principles.
- Design and manage sub-systems or components to meet customer needs within scope, time, and budget constraints.
- Provide expert safety advice to project decision-makers and participate in safety testing, verification, and validation processes.
- Manage safety-related contractual activities, overseeing contractors performing safety functions.
- Assist with technical assurance activities and support the disposal and decommissioning of equipment when necessary.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of safety policies and processes to meet corporate standards.
What we're looking for
- A Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) qualification at RQF Level 4 or higher.
- Proven experience in delivering safety systems, safety acquisition projects, or engineering outcomes, ideally within highly regulated environments.
- Strong track record of providing technical safety advice and managing safety documentation and risk assessments.
- Professional registration with a relevant body, such as EngTech or RSciTech, or alternatively a minimum RQF Level 6 qualification in a related discipline.
Contract details
- Position: Safety Engineer
- Location: Bristol (3 days onsite per week), with hybrid working options
- Start date: ASAP
- Duration: Until 31 March 2026, with scope to extend
- Rate: Up to £420 per day (inside IR35)
