Are you an experienced Network Engineer ready to support a critical programme within the Defence sector? Were working with a leading client in Corsham, Wiltshire, seeking a Contract Network Engineer with active SC clearance, to deliver essential enterprise network infrastructure solutions in a secure environment. This is a hands-on role, ideal for professionals who excel at designing, implementing, and troubleshooting large-scale network architecture. The position offers a hybrid working pattern, with four days onsite each week, and a competitive daily rate of up to Β£600 (inside IR35). The contract is available immediately and runs until March 2028, providing stability and the opportunity to make a significant impact on a high-profile project. What youll be doing: Designing, building, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure across physical and virtual environments. Managing core network components, including routers, switches, and firewalls, with a focus on Cisco Nexus, IOS XE, and VXLAN technologies. Supporting modern network architectures like leaf-spine and SDN, ensuring flexibility and scalability. Troubleshooting routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP, ensuring resilient data flow. Implementing network services including IP addressing, subnetting, QoS, and traffic management. Supporting secure network frameworks: firewall configurations, IDS/IPS, and AAA platforms. Producing comprehensive technical documentation, including design artefacts and operational guides. Contributing to system integration, testing, validation, and incident resolution within highly regulated environments. Promoting continuous improvement initiatives to refine network services. Ideal candidates will have: Strong enterprise Cisco network engineering experience, particularly in Defence or secure public sector environments. Proven background in designing and supporting large-scale, secure network infrastructures. Solid understanding of network security technologies and secure gateway architectures. Extensive knowledge of routing protocols, network device management, and overlay networking like VXLAN. Active SC security clearance. Desirable additional skills include experience with Agile delivery, virtualised environments, and advanced certifications such as CCNP, VCP-NV, or CCIE.
