Our client, a leading organisation within the Defence Sector, is seeking a JAG Production Engineer to join their team in Merthyr Tydfil. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your skills in a critical programme supporting Army vehicles and equipment, with the flexibility of hybrid working.
Role Overview
This role forms a crucial part of the AJAX Programme within the National Armaments Director Group. It focuses on the manufacture and production assurance of military vehicles, working directly with Army personnel, civilians, and prime contractors. You will support the assurance activities, manage the End Item Data Pack (EIDP), and work closely with stakeholders across the project lifecycle, contributing to the successful delivery and acceptance of Army vehicles.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Act as the primary point of contact for engineering issues during the JAG process, ensuring timely resolution.
- Manage the End Item Data Pack (EIDP), keeping it current and audit-ready.
- Coordinate effectively with all stakeholders involved in the JAG process for smooth acceptance stages.
- Provide updates and liaise with production teams regarding concessions and gate reviews.
- Attend and support gates 1-3 review meetings, delivering engineering assurance.
- Review and approve JAG inspection scripts and amendments.
- Address inspection issues raised during Inspection & Test (I&T) with ATT.
- Work with the AJAX In-Service team to ensure vehicle readiness for operational deployment.
Who You Are
- Experienced in manufacturing and production environments, preferably within Defence or military vehicle sectors.
- Familiar with Army equipment management systems such as JAMES.
- Possessing suitable engineering qualifications and training.
- Desirable: prior experience as an Army Vehicle Mechanic or Vehicle Engineer, plus knowledge of MOD/DE&S procedures and Equipment Support Management.
Additional Details
- Location: Merthyr Tydfil, with hybrid working 3 days onsite, 1 day in Bristol, 1 day remote.
- Contract Duration: Until 31 March 2027, with scope for extension.
- Security Clearance: SC clearance required.
- Day Rate: Up to £570 per day (Inside IR35).
- Hours: 7.5 hours per day.
