We’re partnering with a leading defence client seeking a Peregrine Project Safety Manager to support their flagship Uncrewed Air System projects based in Bristol, with flexible remote work options. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting‑edge defence capabilities with a respected organisation.
About the Role
- Location: Bristol, with an option for hybrid working — 2 to 3 days onsite per week
- Contract: Until 31 March 2027, with scope for extension
- Security Clearance: SC minimum required
- Day Rate: Up to £570 (inside IR35), excluding VAT
- Hours: 7.5 hours daily
What You’ll Be Doing
As the Lead safety expert for the Peregrine Uncrewed Air System, you will oversee the development and maintenance of the Air System Safety Case, ensuring compliance with MOD airworthiness standards and regulation frameworks. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Leading and maintaining the Peregrine Air System Safety Case, including safety assessments and hazard management
- Managing Type Airworthiness Safety Assessments and supporting safety-related change activities such as FCR, RTS, and LEC
- Providing expert safety advice and assurance to senior stakeholders, including the TAA and UAS 1 leadership
- Representing safety in governance forums and preparing formal safety papers, briefings, and reports
- Managing hazard logs, risk registers, and mitigation evidence across the project lifecycle
What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience:
- Proven experience in aviation or complex system safety management within a regulated environment
- Strong track record developing and securing assurance for safety cases, such as Air System Safety Case or equivalent
- Deep understanding of MOD airworthiness and aviation safety policies, including Defence Standards (e.g., DStan 00-970) and MAA frameworks
- Experience managing hazard logs, risks, and mitigations during acquisition and in‑service phases
- Excellent communication skills, capable of providing clear, authoritative safety advice at senior levels
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working with Uncrewed Air Systems or maritime aviation operations
- Familiarity with TASA, RTS, LEC, and FCR processes
- Previous engagement with Royal Navy or joint operational projects
- Prior experience within DE&S or in international safety programmes
