Evodia Limited is working with a leading client in Bristol to find a SC cleared Mechanical Engineer to support the T23 Frigate life extension and modernisation programme. This role is ideal if you have proven experience in Mechanical or Mechatronic engineering within marine environments, and you thrive in delivering complex technical outcomes within a highly regulated setting. You’ll be joining a team focused on supporting military capability through acquisition activities, ensuring technical compliance, safety, and interoperability across submarine systems.
Location & Working Arrangements
Based in Bristol, this position offers a flexible hybrid working pattern—requiring 2 to 3 days onsite each week. The contract runs initially until 30 June 2026, with a strong possibility of a long-term extension.
What You’ll Do
- Support in generating technical requirements and managing documentation for sub-systems, with awareness of in-service support and costs.
- Verify and align technical data with project standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, policy, and safety regulations relevant to marine and military systems.
- Manage the design process for components or processes, balancing time, cost, and performance while meeting customer needs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to navigate trade-offs and optimise system integration.
- Support testing, verification, and validation activities to guarantee successful system performance.
- Provide technical support for modifications and support activities post-deployment.
- Assist in the decommissioning process of equipment as necessary.
Candidate Profile
- Hold an RQF Level 4 qualification (HNC or equivalent) or higher in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
- Proven experience delivering Mechanical or Mechatronic outcomes in a defence or marine environment.
- Experience working within regulated sectors, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and security.
- Professional registration with an appropriate body (e.g., EngTech, RSciTech, or MarEngTech) is preferred; however, if not held, a minimum RQF Level 6 qualification (degree level) is required.
Security & Rate Details
- SC clearance is essential.
- Day rate ranges from £350 to £420 (plus VAT), inside IR35.
- Working hours are standard 7.5 hours per day.
