This pivotal position reports directly to the Chief Technical Officer and works closely with the OBI Lead. You will be responsible for shaping the engineering strategy for a One Way Effector Programme, ensuring seamless integration and delivery of multiple projects. Your expertise will guide the development, test, and evaluation phases, with a focus on regulatory alignment and safety assurance.
Location & Working Arrangements
- Based in Bristol, with a hybrid working model (2 days onsite per week)
- UK travel required; overseas travel may also be involved
- Immediate start available; until 31 March 2026 with potential for long term extension
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an effective engineering strategy for the OWE programme
- Support project planning, including test and evaluation programmes
- Engage with regulators and Subject Matter Experts to shape regulation pathways
- Oversee supplier testing, ensuring safety and compliance in accordance with aviation and defence standards
- Manage stakeholder relationships, including airworthiness authorities and project teams
- Lead hazard identification and develop safety artefacts to support testing activities
What We’re Looking For
Essential:- Proven experience managing development and integration of novel weapons systems
- Strong background in complex weapons programmes and testing
- Familiarity with DOSR and/or MAA regulations, working effectively with regulators
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams, including external engineering support
- Qualifications or experience in OME assurance
- Innovative approach to project delivery
- Successful history of supplier management through demonstration and production phases
