Overview
Are you a SC cleared Mechanical Engineer looking to contribute to cutting-edge naval projects? We\βre working with a leading defence client based in Bristol, seeking a skilled professional to support the T23 frigate life extension and modernisation programs. This role offers a hybrid working pattern, requiring three days onsite each week, giving you the flexibility to balance your work and personal commitments.
Responsibilities
- Support the generation and update of technical requirements and documentation for sub-systems, considering in-service support and costs.
- Verify and recommend the use of technical data to support engineering maturity and successful project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulation, and standards related to quality, safety, security, and interoperability.
- Manage design activities for sub-systems or components, balancing technical requirements with project constraints related to time, cost, and performance.
- Collaborate across teams to trade off technical considerations and optimise system integration.
- Support testing, verification, and validation activities for system components.
- Assist with modifications, support, and decommissioning of operational sub-systems.
Qualifications
- Hold a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics qualification at RQF Level 4 or higher.
- Have proven experience providing technical advice and successfully delivering Mechanical or Mechatronic outcomes in various contexts.
- Possess professional registration with a relevant body (e.g., EngTech, RSciTech, Marine EngTech) or a minimum of RQF Level 6 qualification.
- Due to the tight timescales involved, successful candidates are required to already hold a valid SC security clearance.
- Experience across areas such as structures, dynamics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, tribology, and materials to deliver reliable Mechanical or Mechatronic solutions.
Remuneration
Up to Β£420 per day (Inside IR35).
