Join a leading Defence organisation as a Lethality & Protect (L&P) Engineer in Bristol, with flexible hybrid working options. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to high-stakes projects, ensuring the safety and integrity of munitions and explosive systems across Defence and Government departments.
What's involved?
- You’ll support critical weapon and ordnance safety, environmental assurance and engineering standards.
- Your expertise will help shape safety policies and procedures, oversee compliance with JSP 815/816 standards and maintain an array of management systems that underpin safety assurance for defence munitions.
Your key responsibilities:
- Manage JSP 815/816 submissions, assessments, and ongoing monitoring.
- Oversee L&P SEMS management, including waiver documentation and safety metrics dashboards.
- Support enterprise policy management, ensuring compliance with QSEE requests and reporting cycles.
- Conduct audits and reviews, providing advice against DEFSTAN AMC standards.
- Develop strategic plans for OME legislation compliance and future assurance activities.
- Contribute to engineering assurance planning, including audit scheduling and oversight.
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience within DE&S in engineering policy.
- Hands-on understanding of OME DOSR and/or DSA Regulations.
- Familiarity with DE&S Safety and Environmental Management Systems (SEMS).
- Experience with assurance processes, policies, and compliance reporting.
Desirable skills:
- Proficiency in PowerBI for data visualisation and reporting.
Additional information:
- Location: Bristol, with 1-2 days per week onsite.
- Contract: Until End of March 2026, with scope for extension.
- Security Clearance: Minimum SC clearance required.
- Day Rate: Up to £570 (Inside IR35).
