Are you an experienced Safety Engineer with a background in UAS and a current SC clearance? We are working with a leading Defence client in Bristol seeking a UAS Safety Engineer to join their team on an exciting project focusing on the development and safe operation of unmanned aerial systems. This hybrid role offers the flexibility of working remotely for 2-3 days a week while being based in Bristol. The contract runs until June 2026, with potential for extension, and offers a competitive day rate of up to £570 (inside IR35).
We have two roles available:
- Role 1: You will provide expert safety support across a range of Test & Evaluation activities related to novel UAS development and operation.
- Role 2: You will provide expert safety support for acquisition and in-service sustainment of Strategic UAS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer specialist advice in line with Acquisition Safety policy, contributing to the safety case and risk management activities.
- Deliver safety engineering outcomes that support UAS testing and operational activities.
- Manage safety risks throughout the lifecycle of projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to guarantee safety is embedded in all test and operational procedures.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience in Safety Engineering within the air domain, ideally with specific exposure to UAS projects.
- Strong track record of delivering successful safety system outcomes and providing technical safety advice.
- Professionally registered as either IEng, CEng, RSci, or CSci.
- Current SC security clearance is essential.
Desirable:
- Prior experience providing safety support to UAS projects.
