Are you a Safety Engineer with experience in OME Safety Engineering and a current SC clearance? Our client, a leader in defence systems based in Bristol, is seeking an OME Safety Engineer to join their dynamic team on a contract basis, starting from 1st July 2026. This role offers the flexibility of remote working, with occasional visits to the Bristol site for meetings.

In this crucial position within the Land Section, you'll contribute to the development and safety assurance of shoulder-launched systems, loitering munitions, and laser-guided rockets. Reporting to the Land Section Safety Lead, you'll work alongside other safety professionals to uphold the highest safety standards and support ongoing projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Uplift Carl Gustaf (recoilless rifle) SECRs
  • Manage Switchblade Hazard Log
  • Secure AAMC / Waivers for PSS
  • Hold PSECs for PSS
What we're looking forEssential:
  • Proven experience in OME Safety Engineering
  • Safety Management experience within Defence environments
  • Experience facilitating Project Safety & Environmental Committees (PSEC) and Hazard Log Working Groups (HLWG)
  • Professional registration as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng), Chartered Engineer (CEng), Registered Scientist (RSci), or Chartered Scientist (CSci)
  • Current SC security clearance
Desirable:
  • OME Engineering experience
  • Knowledge of Defence OME regulations

This contract runs from 1st July 2026 until 1st October 2026, with potential for extension. The daily rate ranges from £420 to £570 (inside IR35). Working hours are standard 7.5-hour days.
