Evodia Limited is partnering with a leading defence client to find a SC cleared Senior Safety Engineer to join the AJAX Programme in Bristol, with a flexible hybrid working pattern, and active SC clearance.

About the role

This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead safety assurance activities within a critical defence programme, ensuring safety compliance across complex vehicle design, modifications, and demonstration activities.

Working as part of a dedicated team within the Land Environment and Land Combat Vehicles Portfolio, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining the safety integrity of the AJAX vehicles, supporting the wider programmes success.

Manage safety concessions: Assess, document, and seek approval for safety-related concessions, maintaining rigorous compliance standards.

Production of Trials Safety documentation.

Coordinate safety activities: Act as deputy to the Concessions Engineer and support safety function collaboration, ensuring safety policies are embedded in all activities.

Review safety implications, produce trial safety documentation, and support engineering teams in design changes and demonstration events.

Maintain safety records & compliance: Keep meticulous records of safety assessments, concessions, approvals, and support safety audits and reviews.

Contribute to safety procedures: Assist in developing and embedding safety procedures and best practices, ensuring organisational standards are met.

Safety expertise: Proven experience leading safety systems, ideally within a defence or high-reliability engineering environment, with a focus on safety assurance, concessions, and design changes.

Experience managing engineering safety activities within a Major Programme (GMPP/CAT A) is highly desirable.

Qualifications: Formal safety training or certification would be advantageous.

Location: Bristol, with a hybrid working pattern (2 days onsite in Merthyr Tydfil, 1 day Bristol, 1 day Wf H OR 3 days onsite Bristol, 1 day Merthyr Tydfil, 1 Wf H).
