Are you an experienced Engineering Manager with a passion for defence technology and a broad understanding of armoured vehicle systems? Our client, a leading defence organisation, is seeking a Spirals Engineering Manager to play a crucial role in advancing armoured vehicle capabilities through innovative system and requirements management. Based in Bristol, this role offers flexibility with a hybrid working model, working onsite three days a week. The contract is initially until 31 March 2027, with potential for extension, and offers a competitive day rate of up to £570 per day (inside IR35).
What you'll be doing:
- Leading engineering activities related to assessment of Under Armour Track Tensioning and Composite Rubber Track technology
- Ensuring technical requirements align with user needs, considering cost, timeline, and retrofit feasibility
- Providing technical input into Spirals work-packages within the joint schedule
- Identifying and managing technical hazards and project impacts, ensuring appropriate documentation and mitigation
- Collaborating with project managers to monitor schedule progress and risk assessments
- Leading Trials Management activities to support capability assessments
- Reviewing detailed trial specifications and post-trial reports to inform decision-making
- Supporting retrofit planning, incorporating cost and schedule impacts into evaluation processes
- Delivering technical recommendations for progressing UATT and CRT systems, supporting approval activities following programme decision points
What we're looking for:
- Broad technical knowledge of armoured vehicles and land systems engineering
- Proven experience applying GEAR and system engineering processes in a complex environment
- Strong track record of providing technical advice and delivering successful engineering outcomes
- Experience managing trials and technical assessments is highly desirable
- Ability to work collaboratively across high-profile, challenging projects with multiple stakeholders
