Are you an experienced Safety Engineer with a background in systems safety and risk management within the defence sector? Evodia Limited is proud to partner with a leading defence client seeking a Contract AJAX Safety Engineer, SC cleared, to support critical projects based in Bristol. This role offers the flexibility of hybrid working, requiring 1 to 2 days onsite per week, making it an excellent opportunity for those looking to balance work and life in the defence landscape.

What you will do:

  • Lead incident and accident investigations, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to support continuous safety improvement.
  • Participate in hazard working groups, reviewing safety cases and managing associated reports to uphold safety standards.
  • Author and peer review technical risk reports, integrating findings into hazard logs and safety assessments.
  • Manage safety issues raised by industry and joint forces, carrying out trend analysis to inform risk management strategies.
  • Support safety case development by providing evidence and conducting safety assessments, ensuring reviews are thorough and compliant.
  • Monitor mitigation plans such as modifications and change requests, ensuring safety targets are met and reflected accurately in BowTie and hazard logs.

Your background:

  • Demonstrable engineering experience with armoured platforms in the land environment, ideally with knowledge of Ajax systems.
  • Proficient in eCassandra, BowTieXP, and hazard tracking tools.
  • Solid understanding of systems safety and risk management principles.
  • Qualified with a STEM-based qualification at RQF Level 4, and professionally registered as either an IEng, CEng, RSci, or CSci.
  • Experience in safety case management and risk assessments related to military land systems and combat vehicles.
  • SC clearance is essential at the point of application.

Desirable:

  • Experience specifically with the Ajax programme or similar land systems.

Additional Details:

  • Start ASAP, with a contract until 30/09/2026, with potential for long-term extension.
  • Day rate: £420 to £570 (inside IR35).
  • Standard working hours are 7.5 per day.
  • Location: Bristol, with travel to sites across UK as needed.
