Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer with SC clearance and a passion for delivering complex defence projects? Our client, a leading organisation within the defence sector, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Bristol. This role offers a hybrid working model.
Role Overview
As part of the AJAX programme, you will contribute within the Integrate Pillar, focusing on resolving cross-project technical issues. Your expertise will support the seamless integration of various design components, ensuring project success across multiple operational stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, analyse, and resolve cross-project engineering challenges with a focus on integration issues.
- Collaborate closely with Project Leads, Chief Engineers, and cross-functional teams to provide technical advice and support.
- Participate in Tiger Team activities, supporting rapid problem-solving to address critical technical conflicts.
- Document issues, resolutions, and lessons learned to promote continuous improvement.
- Assist in risk management related to design integration and conflicts.
- Ensure solutions meet programme requirements while adhering to standards and quality standards.
- Maintain awareness of current industry standards, best practices, and project specifications.
Candidate Requirements
- Hold a relevant engineering qualification (HNC or higher).
- Be Professionally Registered as an Engineering Technician (EngTech) or equivalent.
- Proven experience in providing technical advice and delivering successful engineering outputs.
- Experience working within large, complex engineering programmes is valued, along with familiarity with military/defence assets.
Additional Information
- Location: Hybrid (Bristol-based with one day per week at Merthyr Tydfil supplier site, and one day WfH)
- Security Clearance: SC clearance minimum
- Contract Length: ASAP until 31 March 2027 (scope to extend)
- Day Rate: Up to £420 (Inside IR35)
- Working hours: 7.5 hours per day
