Are you an experienced Human Factors Engineer with a background in Defence, Aerospace, or highly regulated engineering environments? Evodia Limited is working with a leading defence client to find a Human Factors Engineer to support critical safety and design assurance activities. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a major military programme, ensuring safety, usability, and system effectiveness for cutting-edge land vehicle technology.

About the Role

This contract role is based in Bristol, offering a flexible hybrid working pattern. You will report directly to the AJAX Engineering Lead, acting as the Human Factors Subject Matter Expert. Your work will involve collaborating closely with the prime contractor (General Dynamics) and military stakeholders to deliver vital human factors solutions, particularly in the aftermath of recent safety investigations. Your primary responsibilities include supporting demonstration, V&V, and system acceptance activities, as well as aiding the closure of critical safety actions following the Titan Storm incident. The successful candidate will influence design decisions, resolve human factors issues, and ensure compliance with safety requirements relevant to military operations.

What Youll Bring

  • Proven experience in Human Factors Engineering (HFE) or Human Factors Integration (HFI).
  • Background within Defence, Military, Aerospace, or regulated environments.
  • Experience supporting requirements verification, validation (V&V), and system acceptance.
  • Ability to evaluate and influence engineering designs where human factors are critical to safety and performance.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work with industry partners, government, and end users.
  • Experience producing technical reports, evidence, and recommendations to support programme objectives.
  • A relevant degree in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Psychology, Engineering, or related discipline.

Desirable Skills

  • Previous involvement in the AJAX programme or military land systems.
  • Experience with safety investigations and lesson-learning activities.
  • Knowledge of Human Machine Interface (HMI) design and Human Systems Integration (HSI) methodologies.
  • Familiarity with MOD, DE&S, Dstl, or defence primes like BAE, Leonardo, or Thales.
  • Membership of CIEHF or equivalent.

Details

  • Location: Bristol (hybrid working, 3 days on-site)
  • Contract Duration: Until 31 March 2027 (with scope to extend)
  • Security Clearance: SC clearance minimum
  • Day Rate: £420 to £570 (inside IR35)
  • Working Hours: 7.5 hours per day
