We are partnering with a key client in the defence sector to find an Air RTW Safety Engineer to join their team in Bristol. This is an exciting opportunity for a SC-cleared safety specialist with significant experience in air domain safety engineering and acquisition outcomes. The role offers a flexible working model, with hybrid working arrangements requiring two days onsite in Bristol each week. The contract is initially set from 1st July 2026 to 1st October 2026, with potential for extension.
As a Safety Engineer, you will be providing expert advice and technical leadership in the safety support for the acquisition and ongoing sustainment of Strategic UAS. Your role involves delivering comprehensive risk management throughout the lifecycle of these vital systems, ensuring they are safe, reliable, and fit for purpose for Front Line Commands.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Wide-ranging experience in delivering safety systems and acquisition engineering outcomes.
- Proven background providing safety engineering within the air domain.
- Demonstrable experience advising on and leading safety-related projects.
- Professional registration as either an Incorporated Engineer (IEng), Chartered Engineer (CEng), Registered Scientist (RSci), or Chartered Scientist (CSci).
- SC security clearance.
Desirable:
- Prior experience supporting UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) projects.
This is a well-supported role offering a competitive day rate between £420 and £570 (inside IR35). The standard working week is based on 7.5-hour days, aligning with industry norms.
