We are seeking a commercially minded and analytical Assistant Accountant to join the VOW Finance team. This role will play a key part in delivering accurate financial reporting, commercial analysis and month-end accounting activities that support business performance and informed decision-making. The successful candidate will work closely with Commercial Finance, Sales and Treasury teams, providing insight into sales, margins and operating costs while supporting forecasting, budgeting and customer rebate processes. Key Responsibilities
- Review daily sales and margin reporting, identifying and investigating key variances and trends.
- Complete month-end accounting activities including:
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Journal postings
- Accruals and prepayments
- Overhead analysis
- Customer rebate accounting and recognition.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes across sales channels, customers and business areas.
- Develop financial models and provide analysis to support commercial decision-making.
- Maintain and enhance reporting tools, including Excel-based reports and Power BI dashboards.
- Build strong relationships with Sales Managers, Channel Directors and other stakeholders, acting as a trusted finance partner.
- Prepare and analyse customer information, including reconciliations, variance analysis and payment reviews.
- Calculate and maintain month-end customer rebate provisions.
- Manage customer allowance and rebate queries as a key finance contact for Account Managers.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist with ad hoc financial reporting and projects.
Skills & Experience
- Essential
- Degree in Finance, Mathematics or a related discipline (2:1 or above preferred)
- Ambition to study towards a professional accounting qualification (ACCA or CIMA).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload effectively.

- Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools.
