We are looking for an Export Official Veterinarian to work in the Sittingbourne area (Kent). This role will involve working day shifts from Friday to Tuesday and facilitate the worldwide export of UK food and animal products. Our Export Official Veterinarians (EOVs) are responsible for completing Export Health Certificates for some of Britain’s biggest brands and businesses.
As an EOV you will establish and maintain productive relationships with export customers, understand legislative issues, gain a comprehensive knowledge of the exporting sector, write detailed reports, and make effective decisions when needed. Demanding situations will occasionally arise, so you must be an excellent communicator with high levels of empathy and diplomacy to resolve them professionally.
Export Official Veterinarian tasks typically vary from day to day, but include the following:
- Completion of Export Health Certificates (EHCs)
- Inspecting export vehicles, finished goods, integrity of packaging and labelling
- Providing audit verification / photographic evidence of the export process
- Sending appropriate documentation within the agreed timescale
- Building relationships with all stakeholders
Key responsibilities include:
- Effectively manage and maintain all product information required to support the Export Health Certification of Products of Animal Origin (POAO) to be exported to or transit the EU
- Oversee and supply future and continuous improvement for all aspects of Exports Certification
- Deliver best-in-class solutions to serve our operational and retail customers better, by improving availability and stock record accuracy
- Effectively deal with Customs and Excise compliance and freight financial obligations for all Exports
- Plan and manage changes to EU requirements, operations, budgets and process changes within the business
- Highlight trends, improve performance, and ensure compliance with agreed processes
- Be an ambassador for the business in all aspects of the supplier, third party, contract management and Government
- Provide advice, guidance and coaching to internal and external stakeholders on complex food export legislation to ensure the provision of accurate product data
EOV skills and experience requirements:
- Education: Veterinary Medicine Degree, MRCVS registration or eligibility to obtain it
- Experience: earlier experience is preferred but not essential; full training will be provided
- English Level: a minimum IELTS (Level 7)
- Driving licence: Full clean licence category B - mandatory (minimum driving experience 1 year)
- Basic commercial understanding and awareness of developing / operating third‑party contracts
- In‑depth understanding of stock flow and stock record management across grocery retail
- Intermediate to advanced IT skills including database systems, Excel, Google sheets and data management
