Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Lead Electrician role based from Kidlington. The Lead Electrician will oversee and execute installation, testing, and commissioning of renewable energy systems, including solar PV, battery storage, and EV charging infrastructure. Responsibilities include:

  • Diagnosing electrical issues, performing maintenance and repairs, and ensuring all work complies with current electrical regulations and safety standards.
  • Leading and mentoring a small team of electricians and apprentices.
  • Coordinating site activities and collaborating with project managers to deliver projects on time and within scope.
  • Completing technical documentation and providing clear updates to customers.
  • Supporting continuous improvement of installation methods and quality.

Qualifications

  • Strong practical skills in Electricity and Electrical Work, with experience installing and wiring residential and commercial systems.
  • Proficiency in Maintenance & Repair and Troubleshooting to diagnose faults, perform corrective actions, and optimise system performance.
  • Recognised electrical qualifications (e.g., Level 3 NVQ or equivalent), with current certifications in BS 7671 (Wiring Regulations) and relevant inspection and testing qualifications preferred.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety practices, risk assessments, and safe isolation procedures on active sites.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation accurately.
  • Clear, professional communication skills and a client-focused approach, with the ability to explain technical issues in accessible terms.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites within the region as required.
  • Previous experience or interest in the renewables sector (solar PV, battery storage, EV chargers) is highly desirable, but candidates with strong transferable electrical experience will be considered.
