Associate Director - RWE/Epidemiology

Remote based (UK)

A rare opportunity to join a mid-sized, highly scientific, international healthcare consultancy providing a range of innovative services to Life Sciences companies.

Combining both traditional and novel analytical approaches with diverse real-world data, including genomic, medical record, claims and patient-reported information, has allowed my client to inform Life Sciences/Pharma company internal decision making as well as submissions and presentations to regulators; health technology assessment authorities and payers; the medical community; and, patient organizations.

The Epidemiology team and this position:

The Epidemiology team consists of scientific experts who lead study design, methodology development and result interpretation across a broad range of RWE/HEOR studies, for the pharmaceutical industry. The professional in this position will demonstrate a passion for the generation of rigorous and relevant RWE, ensuring delivery of high-quality evidence and outputs.

The Associate Director, Epidemiology, will independently drive study design, oversee data analysis and interpretation, and lead collaboration with clients and cross-functional teams. This individual will play a key role in advancing the organization’s epidemiologic and real-world data capabilities and supporting high-impact evidence generation for regulatory, clinical, and commercial use.

Accountabilities within this role:

  • Lead and refine epidemiological study designs, addressing complex methodological challenges.
  • Oversee protocol development, analysis plans, and study reports ensuring clarity and quality.
  • Interpret results independently and communicate findings effectively to clients and stakeholders.
  • Apply deep therapeutic and coding expertise to align study design with data needs.
  • Utilise advanced knowledge of real-world data sources to guide study feasibility and interpretation.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior epidemiologists.
  • Drive innovation and contribute to scientific thought leadership.
  • Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely, high-quality deliverables.
  • Support business development through proposal leadership and client engagement.

Ideal profile:

  • MSc or PhD in Epidemiology.
  • 6-12 years of Epidemiological research experience, with substantial RWE focus in consulting, pharmaceutical or biotech settings (previous private sector/consulting experience highly desirable)
  • Experience working with US and UK data sets ideal (secondary data, claims, EHRs, etc.)
  • Proven leadership in study design, client interaction, and team management.
  • Deep expertise in epidemiological methodologies, therapeutic areas, and medical coding.
  • Strong record of scientific communication, including authorship and presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for mentoring, collaboration, and client engagement.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Flexibility to adapt to client project needs and handle competing priorities in a fast-paced workplace
