Purpose of the Role
This exciting new hybrid opportunity has arisen to join our Finance team reporting to our Senior Finance Manager. You will undertake the preparation of monthly management accounts, consisting of the profit and loss and balance sheets, in addition to preparing information for statutory accounts, recording fixed assets, project tracking, and payroll in line with the Group financial control framework and reporting timetable. This role requires 2 or 3 days per week in the office in Leeds.
What You Will Do
This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Collaborating with your Line Manager, you will develop your objectives but focus on the following and more:
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and supporting commentary.
- Prepare monthly KPIs supporting management accounts.
- Post, review, and approve journal entries, communicating reasons for rejection.
- Manage accruals and prepayments schedule monthly, ensuring all accrued income is signed off with backup.
- Understand and validate all aspects of the profit and loss account, explaining variances to stakeholders.
- Liaise with other finance departments to ensure management account accuracy.
- Prepare full balance sheet reconciliations monthly with supporting commentary.
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register.
- Prepare year-end audit files and liaise with external auditors.
- Review monthly payroll and FTE analysis.
- Produce monthly cashflows with forecasts.
- Support budgeting and forecasting, including profit and loss and cash basis.
- Ensure compliance with FCA rules and internal processes.
Who We Are Looking For
Candidates should be:
- Qualified Accountants (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), part-qualified, or QBE.
- Experienced in IFRS and UK GAAP; CASS experience is beneficial.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- A self-motivated, organized individual who works well under pressure, quickly adapts to new systems, and can train others.
- Detail-oriented, flexible, and possess strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
