We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for dedicated and compassionate individuals to join the team at Hope Haven, a newly established Community Mental Health Support Hub based in Whitehaven, West Cumbria. These roles are ideally suited to recent graduates in Psychology or Mental Health-related fields seeking to begin their career in mental health support.

As a Case Worker, you will provide a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for individuals accessing the service, both in person and by telephone. Using de-escalation techniques, active listening, and compassionate communication, you will support individuals in crisis or emotional distress, helping them develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to navigate future life challenges while maintaining good mental health. This role also involves close liaison with relevant support services, ensuring a holistic and personalised approach to recovery.

Please note: Due to the nature of this role, applicants must be based locally and able to travel throughout the Copeland area as required. This role is hybrid, working from home and Hope Haven. This is a fixed term full-time role, contracted at 37.5 hours per week, with a duration of 12 months for maternity cover. You will be working shift rota, Mondays-Sundays between 9am - Midnight (you will get pay enhancements on top of your salary for working unsocial hours). This role is not eligible for sponsorship as it does not meet the requirements as set out by the UK Visa and Immigration Service.

About the Service: Hope Haven forms part of a broader partnership between Home Group and Everyturn Mental Health, delivering an integrated Community Mental Health Support Hub. The service will bring together specialist health, social care, and community services at the heart of Whitehaven, supporting local residents with their mental health and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-produce and support individuals to implement personalised crisis plans, relapse prevention strategies, and self-management tools such as the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP).
  • Provide appropriate signposting, guidance, and support to help individuals access services and resources based on their unique needs and circumstances.
  • Develop a strong understanding of local care pathways, community networks, and culturally sensitive practices to inform and enhance support.
  • Encourage the development of independent peer-support networks to help individuals sustain long-term recovery beyond the service.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and clear documentation in line with organisational policies, while making proactive use of supervision, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Carry out any additional duties as required to support the ongoing development and success of the service.

About you:

We would love to hear from you if you possess the following:

  • Proven experience providing one-to-one support to individuals with complex needs.
  • Previous experience working in Health, Social Care, or within the Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector.
  • An understanding of the structure and functions of Health and Social Care systems.
  • Knowledge of national and local organisations that promote mental health and wellbeing.
  • Aware of the recovery model in the context of mental health.
  • An understanding of the effects of stigma and discrimination.
  • Aware of wider social challenges such as homelessness, financial exclusion, and substance misuse.
