As a Trainee High Intensity CBT Therapist in our team, you will have the opportunity to develop your career while studying alongside other High Intensity Trainees, with an organisation that is recognised for developing individuals and has an excellent reputation at both a local and national level.

We have a strong reputation for professional development, and you will be fully supported to develop your clinical skills whilst you study for your Post Graduate Certificate in Cognitive & Behavioural Therapies - High Intensity Training.

You will spend 2 days per week at Chester University where you will be taught by experts to deliver evidence based psychological therapies for clients with anxiety and depression. The remaining days will be spent working in our service with our skilled team of clinicians to develop your new skills and gain experience. During this time, you will deliver high intensity interventions and comprehensive psychological assessments to support our wide range of clients.

The course provided by the University is recognised for its high quality and we have a strong track record of successfully supporting our trainees through their studies. You will be guided by our highly knowledgeable and approachable managers, and have access to a range of CPD opportunities.

You will be based at Talking Together Wirral, Woodside Business Park, Birkenhead. This course is 12 months, beginning January 2026, and attendance at all University teaching days is compulsory therefore it is essential that you can commit to this.
As a trainee, your working pattern will be Mondays to Fridays, 9am to 5pm.
You will be recruited on a permanent contract and promoted to a Qualified Hight Intensity CBT Therapist position within our service on successful completion of the course and providing all other relevant criteria have been met.

We would love to hear from you, if you possess the following:

  • Have a BABCP recognised Core Profession (e.g. mental health nurse, clinical or counselling psychology, medicine, social work, occupational therapy, counselling, psychotherapy/psychotherapeutic counselling, teacher of special education / needs) - further information can be found by clicking here

OR

  • You are a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner who has a minimum of two years post qualification experience and can demonstrate the ability to meet the Knowledge & Skills Assessment requirements (further information can be found byclicking here ).Candidates who are applying using the KSA route must be able to present a completed KSA at the interview stage.
  • Proven track record of working positively with people who have experienced a mental ill health in a mental health setting.
  • Highly resilient with the ability to meet the attendance and academic requirements of the course, whilst also working for our service.
  • Are able to organise a high-volume workload to ensure effective prioritisation and delivery of objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet service and client need.
