We are now looking for a skilled and proactive Maintenance Operative to join our Estates team and help ensure our services are safe, functional, and welcoming for the people who use and work in them.

About the role

The main purpose of this role is to carry out day‑to‑day general maintenance across our services, ensuring all buildings are maintained in a safe, efficient, and fully operational condition. You will play a key role in both planned and reactive maintenance, helping to keep our services running smoothly and responding quickly to issues as they arise.

Please note: Due to the nature of this role, it is essential that you hold a full UK driving licence. This role is not eligible for sponsorship as it does not meet the requirements as set out by the UK Visa and Immigration Service.

What you’ll do

  • Carry out a range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks, including general building work, basic joinery, basic plumbing, painting and decorating, and external grounds maintenance
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance in line with scheduled programmes
  • Act as a first responder for breakdowns, faults, and maintenance requests
  • Liaise with and coordinate external contractors and suppliers where required
  • Undertake general facilities support tasks, including installation, delivery, and removal of furniture and equipment
  • Carry out inspections, identify and report defects, risks, and maintenance issues
  • Follow Everyturn’s health and safety policies and procedures, including identifying hazards and completing point‑of‑work risk assessments
  • Communicate effectively with service occupiers to minimise disruption during maintenance activities
  • Support the Estates team with additional duties as required
  • Take part in additional training and development opportunities as needed

What you’ll bring

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a building trade or property maintenance role
  • A City & Guilds craft certificate in a construction trade, or a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in a relevant trade (or multi‑trade building maintenance), or equivalent hands‑on experience
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain maintenance work verbally and in writing
  • Basic IT skills, including using smartphones/tablets, emails, apps, and taking photographs for reporting purposes
  • A full UK driving licence
