As a Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner with us, you will be fully supported to develop your clinical skills whilst you study for a Post Graduate Certificate in Improving Access to Psychological Therapies in Primary Care.
We are keen to hear from Assistant Psychologists, Psychology Graduates, Social Workers and Community Workers who hold a relevant degree. You will spend 1 day per week studying at Liverpool John Moores University, where you will be taught by experts to deliver evidence based psychological therapies for clients with anxiety and depression. The remaining days will be spent working with our skilled team of clinicians within our service, to develop your new skills and gain experience. During this time, you will deliver low intensity interventions and comprehensive psychological assessments to support our wide range of clients.
The course provided by the University is recognised for its high quality and we have a strong track record of successfully supporting our trainees through their studies. You will be guided by our highly knowledgeable and approachable managers. In addition, you will receive support to further develop your skills and career with access to a range of CPD opportunities.
You will be based at NHS Wirral Talking Therapies, Woodside Business Park, Birkenhead. This course is 12 months, starting October 2025 and attendance at all University teaching days is compulsory therefore it is essential that you can commit to this. As a trainee, your working pattern will be Monday to Fridays, 9am - 5pm. You will be recruited on a permanent contract and promoted to a Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner within our service on successful completion of the course and providing all other relevant criteria have been met.
About You
We would love to hear from you, if you possess the following:
- Degree educated, ideally in a related field (e.g. psychological or behavioral science)
- Evidence of working with people who have suffered with a mental health problem
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively
- Highly resilient with the ability and desire to become a qualified PWP
- Able to work to required performance targets
- The ability to work flexibly to meet service and client need
