As a Compliance Officer, you will apply your legal training in a more dynamic environment-working closely with senior leadership, influencing decision-making, and gaining exposure across all areas of the business. About the Role
The Compliance Officer plays a central role in ensuring the organisation operates in line with all legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. You will act as a trusted advisor to the business, supporting the Board and Senior Leadership Team on compliance, regulatory, and contractual matters. You will also take on the important position of Data Protection Officer (DPO), overseeing data privacy and governance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
Advisory & Legal Application
- Provide clear, practical advice on regulatory and contractual matters
- Interpret and apply legislation (including UK GDPR) in a commercial context
- Support the business in navigating regulatory challenges and customer issues
Risk & Compliance
- Identify and assess compliance risks across the organisation
- Design and implement effective internal controls
- Conduct audits and monitor ongoing compliance
Data Protection (DPO)
- Act as the organisation's Data Protection Officer
- Manage Subject Access Requests (SARs) and data privacy processes
- Lead responses to data breaches and regulatory enquiries
Governance & Policy
- Maintain and develop internal policies and procedures
- Support the Integrated Management System (IMS)
- Contribute to Board and senior-level reporting
Training & Culture
- Deliver training and guidance to staff
- Promote a culture of compliance and ethical behaviour
- Support managers in resolving compliance issues
Wider Business Exposure
- Work with multiple departments across the organisation
- Collaborate with IT on cyber security and data risk
- Support environmental and regulatory compliance requirements
- Prepare for and lead the annual assessment for ISO standards (ISO 9001 and ISO 14001)
What We’re Looking For
Ideal Background
- Trainee solicitor, newly qualified solicitor, or junior lawyer
- Or experience in a compliance, risk, or governance role
- Strong understanding of legal principles and regulatory frameworks

Working Arrangements
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, standard office hours
