An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Inpatient Tobacco Dependency Service, based at Royal Stoke University Hospital/ County Hospital Stafford. This is a unique opportunity to join developing services, as well as support and contribute toward the existing Staffordshire Integrated Stop Smoking Service at Everyone Health Staffordshire. These roles are full time, delivering the service over Monday-Friday, which may require some weekend work on a rotational basis.

The Tobacco Dependency Advisor will be responsible for supporting inpatients, to deliver Stop Smoking or Temporary Abstinence support at bedside, and provide personalised treatment plans, provision of pharmacotherapy and a discharge plan. This will be a challenging but extremely rewarding role. If you are enthusiastic, motivated, and looking to make a big difference, then this is the role for you!

Ideal Candidate
  • NCSCT Smoking Practitioner registered (or willingness to obtain this – training will be provided).
  • NCSCT VBA training modules
  • Making Every Contact Count (MECC) Training
  • COM-B Training
  • Full UK Driving license and access to a car for work, with ‘business purposes’ insurance.

  • Can demonstrate putting service users first and delivering a high-quality service.
  • Have evidence of being adaptable and quick thinking.
  • Have a minimum of 1 year experience working in community, primary care and in-patient settings.
  • Have experience of working with adults in a 1-2-1 and group environment, to support positive lifestyle change.
  • Have experience of using behaviour change models within a work context.
  • Have experience of working in a multi-cultural setting with patients of different cultures, genders and ages.
  • Have experience of working to challenging performance targets and achieving excellent outcomes.
