About the role
We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to help shape how technology empowers neurodivergent individuals and people with physical, sensory and other disabilities.
You'll work across Everway's portfolio of special education and assistive technology solutions for school and workplace environments, collaborating closely with Product Management, Engineering, Research, Content and other cross-functional partners.
A key focus of this role will be our IEP product portfolio, including Polaris, Embrace Education and Spedtrack. You'll work across interconnected products and experiences, helping create coherent, accessible and scalable solutions that support the needs of educators, administrators and students.
This role offers the opportunity to think beyond individual features and products. You'll help shape shared experiences and interaction patterns across the portfolio, balancing consistency with the unique context and needs of individual products and users.
You'll lead end-to-end design work, from understanding complex problems and synthesising research through ideation, prototyping, validation and delivery. You'll contribute to product strategy, design quality and our design system, while exploring practical applications of AI and emerging technologies.
You'll also work closely with other designers, providing senior design partnership, sharing knowledge and helping raise design quality across the portfolio.
This is an opportunity to have a significant influence on the future of Everway's IEP experiences and help create accessible, coherent and high-quality products that make a meaningful difference to the people who use them.
Main responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners across Product, Engineering, Research, Content and Marketing to deliver product experiences that meet user and business needs.
- Own end-to-end design work within your scope, contributing design expertise to product decisions from early discovery through delivery and iteration.
- Help frame problems, identify opportunities and contribute design insight to product strategy and planning.
- Design across interconnected products, workflows and user journeys to create scalable and coherent experiences.
- Translate user insights, product analytics and business objectives into intuitive, accessible and scalable design solutions.
- Work closely with Engineering to understand technical constraints and opportunities, ensuring solutions are practical, scalable and effectively implemented.
- Contribute to and evolve Everway's design system, supporting consistency, scalability and accessibility across products.
- Explore and apply AI where it creates meaningful value, improving design workflows, accelerating prototyping and supporting new product experiences, while considering usability, accessibility, trust, transparency and user control.
- Create and present design concepts, prototypes and solutions with clear rationale linked to user, product and business objectives.
- Advocate for inclusive design and ensure work meets or exceeds relevant accessibility standards.
- Partner with researchers to integrate user insights into iterative design and validation cycles.
- Balance qualitative user insights with quantitative product analytics to inform design decisions and measure the success of shipped experiences.
- Facilitate workshops, design reviews and co-creation sessions with peers and stakeholders.
- Share knowledge and contribute to design practice, learning and innovation across the UX and Product organisation.
Essential criteria
- Significant product design experience, including 3+ years operating at Senior Product Designer level, with a strong portfolio demonstrating how design decisions contributed to measurable user, product or business outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to work with ambiguity, frame complex problems and influence product direction.
- Experience applying inclusive and universal design principles, reducing cognitive load, and designing to recognised accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.2
- Experience designing across interconnected products, complex workflows or end-to-end user journeys while considering the wider product ecosystem.
- Hands-on experience contributing to and evolving design systems.
- Strong prototyping and interaction design skills, with the ability to use prototypes to explore, test and communicate ideas.
- Proficiency in modern design tools such as Figma.
- Familiarity with AI-enhanced design workflows and an understanding of emerging human-AI interaction patterns, including trust, transparency, uncertainty and user control.
- Ability to communicate and influence design decisions clearly across a range of stakeholders.
- Strong collaboration with Product Management and Engineering, balancing user needs, business goals and technical constraints.
- Understanding of modern product development approaches such as Agile, Lean UX, continuous discovery and iterative delivery, with experience facilitating collaborative design activities.
Desirable criteria
- Experience designing across Web, iOS and Android in a complex SaaS environment.
- Experience designing products for education, accessibility, assistive technology or other complex user needs.
- Experience designing or shipping AI-enabled product experiences.
- Experience using AI-assisted prototyping or design-to-development workflows.
- Experience working with product analytics and experimentation to evaluate product outcomes.
- Familiarity with designing for enterprise, education or multi-user environments with complex permissions, roles or workflows.
