Targeted Tutor (SEND)
Who are we: Since 1988, Everton in the Community has become a dynamic force for good, harnessing the unifying power of football to drive social change and address societal challenges across Liverpool City Region. Supported by a team of over 130 full-time staff and over 200 volunteers, the independently governed and financed charity offers more than 60 programmes tackling issues like health, employability, anti-social behaviour, crime, exploitation, education, dementia, and disability.

About the opportunity: Our Children and Youth Services support children and young people aged 2 to 25 facing high risk and vulnerability. Our programmes provide intensive help for issues such as homelessness, criminal involvement, educational struggles, health challenges, and family difficulties. Our goal is to inspire and empower children and young people to reach their potential.
The Targeted Tutor (SEND) role will work with young people in our Secondary Education programme, engaging and inspiring them towards positive change, healthier lives, and stronger communities.
The role involves implementing targeted interventions, working with senior coordinators and managers to ensure programme goals align with our strategic and contractual obligations.
Your main base will be at the Everton in the Community campus, but you will need to be mobile across schools and community venues across Merseyside.
Other key responsibilities include:

Programme Planning and Implementation: Developing and coordinating programmes to meet goals and funding obligations.

Resource and Materials: Creating inclusive resources, monitoring their use, and ensuring appropriateness.

Monitoring, Documentation, and Evaluation

Compliance and Safety: Ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and regulations.

Relationship Building: Maintaining positive relationships through effective communication.

Marketing and Promotion: Collaborating with stakeholders to showcase programme impact.

Supporting the Programme Coordinator in assessing needs and implementing action plans.

Delivering tailored 1:1 and group mentoring for Year 7 and 8 students with SEND, focusing on academic, social, and emotional development.

Providing transitional support to Key Stage 3 students with SEND, collaborating with primary teams during key transition phases.

Working closely with school SENCOs and pastoral teams to understand and support individual student needs.
Safeguarding

Understanding and applying the Clubs Safeguarding policy and procedures.

Ensuring safe working practices, appropriate reporting, and contributing to an anti-bullying environment.
Who we are looking for: We seek someone with a genuine interest in supporting young people, regardless of background, with knowledge of SEND strategies including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or SEMH needs. The ideal candidate will have:

Teaching qualification or relevant youth work degree (desirable but not essential).

Experience working with young people with challenging behaviors, SEN, or vulnerability to exploitation.

Experience collaborating with multi-agency teams for SEND support.

Strong interpersonal skills to build respectful relationships with young people, families, and professionals.
The closing date is Friday 13th June 2025. The role is a 12-month fixed-term contract, 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday, based across EITC campus, schools, and community venues across Merseyside.
