Since 1988, Everton in the Community has become a dynamic force for good, harnessing the unifying power of football to drive social change and addressing societal challenges across Liverpool City Region. Supported by a team of over 130 full‑time staff and over 200 volunteers, the independently governed and independently financed charity offers an extensive array of more than sixty programmes and initiatives that tackle a diverse range of social issues including health, employability, anti‑social behaviour, crime, exploitation, education, dementia, and disability.

About the opportunity
Our Children and Youth Services aim to support children and young people aged two to twenty‑five who are at high risk and facing vulnerability.
These programmes offer intensive help and positive interventions for individuals dealing with serious issues such as homelessness, criminal involvement, educational struggles, mental and physical health challenges, and family difficulties.
Our goal is to break the cycle of limited aspirations and unfulfilled potential by guiding, inspiring, motivating, and empowering children and young people to achieve their potential.
We will inspire and empower young people and adults to pursue positive change, live healthier lives and transition and contribute towards creating stronger communities and brighter futures.
The Targeted Tutor will be responsible for delivering and demonstrating the impact of our funded Secondary Education programmes within schools, working closely with the Secondary Education Senior Coordinator to ensure programmes align with the goals and objectives of EITC’s five‑year strategy – the Trinity Project.
The postholder will be required to be mobile across schools and community venues across Merseyside.
You will be expected to always represent Everton in the Community (EITC) professionally and conduct yourself in accordance with Everton Football Club and EITC values.
Other key responsibilities will include
- Planning and delivering sessions, ensuring they meet the goals and objectives in line with funding obligations and the needs of our participants. Identifying and reporting issues or challenges that arise and supporting.
- To comply with all relevant policies, procedures, training and regulations. Maintaining a safe environment for participants and staff, maintaining risk assessment processes for all activities. Adhering to quality assurance processes to promote continuous improvement.
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships through effective and timely communication methods with participants, colleagues, partners, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and support.
Safeguarding
- To understand the Club’s Safeguarding policy, procedures, and best‑practice guidelines.
- To use this understanding to ensure safe working practices, appropriate reporting of concerns and contribute positively to an anti‑bullying environment.
- Ensure safeguarding and health and safety processes are implemented in line with Everton in the Community guidelines.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for an individual who has experience of working with young people who display challenging behaviour and who is knowledgeable in the delivery of different learning styles.
Our successful candidate will also demonstrate the following skills, knowledge and experience:
- Full clean UK driving licence.
- Experience of developing session plans and schemes of work.
- Experience of delivering classroom‑based sessions to 11‑18‑year‑olds.
- Experience of managing challenging student behaviours.
- To be fully IT literate with the ability to use MS Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Creative presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of different audiences.

This position will be offered on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract, 35 hours per week with the role being based at Goodison Park and schools across targeted areas.
