Since 1988, Everton in the Community has become a dynamic force for good, harnessing the unifying power of football to drive social change and addressing societal challenges across Liverpool City Region. Supported by a team of over 130 full-time staff and over 200 volunteers, the independently governed and independently financed charity offers an extensive array of more than 60 programmes and initiatives that tackle a diverse range of social issues including health, employability, anti-social behaviour, crime, exploitation, education, dementia, and disability.

Everton in the Community stands firmly beside the most at-risk and most in need members of its local communities, but the needs of the city are ever-growing and ever-evolving and the official charity of Everton Football Club is committed to helping as many people as possible.

About the opportunity: Everton in the Community is seeking to appoint a Primary Education Tutor who will deliver and monitor high quality primary school programmes to schools throughout Merseyside, to increase participation among participants of all abilities.

As a Primary Education Tutor you will plan, deliver and evaluate high quality classroom-based interventions in Maths, English and PSHE alongside supporting teachers with National Curriculum PE.

This role sits under our Everton in the Community’s Learns pillar, which aims to remove barriers and create more pathways to education for people of all ages, ensuring that each and every individual has the chance to learn and grow. Learns will support children at every step of their educational journey, empowering young people to choose their own career paths and equip adults with the necessary skills to thrive in future workplaces, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to learn and grow.

Other key responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching, according to the pupil’s educational needs, children assigned to him/her/they, setting high and achievable targets with each child
  • Participating in long term planning in liaison with schools and carry out such medium and short term planning for teaching, and evaluating, as required by the school’s policies
  • Identifying clear teaching objectives and specifying how they will be taught and assessed.
  • Review programmes of work, teaching materials and methods in liaison with coordinators and other colleagues.

Safeguarding

  • To understand the Club’s Safeguarding policy, procedures, and best practice guidelines.
  • To use this understanding to ensure safe working practices, appropriate reporting of concerns and contribute positively to an Anti-bullying environment.

Who we are looking for: We are looking for an individual who has previous experience of working in schools and community settings specifically within the 4-11 age group and who have been identified with SEN/D.

With sound knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum, across all subjects as well as PE and Sports Premium our ideal candidate will also hold the below qualifications:

Essential qualifications include:

  • Degree of professional qualification in
    sports and leisure/teaching
  • NGB level 2 in at least one sport
  • Valid Emergency First Aid Award
  • Valid ‘Safeguarding Children workshop; certificate
  • Membership of FA Licenced Coaches Club
  • Qualifications in other sports

This position will be offered on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract, with the role being based across our Everton in the Community campus.
