About the opportunity: A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a First Team Sports Therapist to join the Medical & Sports Science Team. The successful candidate will deliver a comprehensive, multidisciplinary therapy service to men’s first team players, supporting performance, recovery, and rehabilitation. Reporting directly to the Head of Medical Services, the role requires an experienced sports therapy practitioner, specialising in musculoskeletal assessment, manual therapy techniques, and assisting in medical emergency scenarios.
Other Key Responsibilities Include:
- Providing high-quality sports therapy services to men’s first team players
- Conducting detailed musculoskeletal assessments and delivering appropriate treatment plans
- Applying a range of manual therapy techniques to support recovery and performance
- Assisting in medical emergency situations in line with best practice protocols
- Supporting the coordination and delivery of all medical services available to players
- Contributing to injury prevention, rehabilitation and return-to-play programmes
- Assisting with the organisation, maintenance, and logistics of medical equipment
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary performance team
- Travelling with the team when required, supporting players during fixtures and tours
- Maintaining accurate medical records, ensuring confidentiality at all times
- Engaging in ongoing professional development to remain current with industry standards
Who we’re looking for: Our ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum of 5 years experience working within elite sport
- Strong expertise in musculoskeletal assessment and manual therapies
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining discretion
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate empathy and professionalism in sensitive situations
- Strong organisational skills with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Flexibility to travel and adapt to team schedules
Qualifications:
Essential:
- BSc in Sports Therapy (or equivalent)
- Level 4 Sports & Remedial Massage
- FA Level 4 Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMiF)
Desirable:
- MSc in Sports Therapy, Rehabilitation, or related field
- Acupuncture qualification
- Experience with electrotherapy (e.g. Indiba, Tecar, Hivamat)
- FA Level 5 Advanced Trauma Medical Management in Football (ATMMiF)
The role is based on a 40 hour working week at our Finch Farm Training Ground in Halewood, Liverpool, with regular travel being a requirement of the role.
