As an Occupational Health Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of high-quality occupational health services. You will be responsible for carrying out a range of health surveillance assessments, administering health and wellbeing initiatives, and contributing to the smooth operation of our occupational health programs. This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident individual to work alongside a multidisciplinary occupational health team on-site at our clients site in Woking. You will be self-motivated and have a proactive approach to your role, prioritising and managing your own workload.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To undertake those health screening procedures including; general baseline measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure, urinalysis; health surveillance screening such as audiometry, lung function testing; drug and alcohol testing procedures.
  • Ensure all medical information is accurately recorded in the occupational health records and passed to the clinical staff for interpretation and further management of the patient.
  • Ensure all equipment is serviceable, clean and fit for purpose. This can include ensuring that the equipment is regularly calibrated. This can also include the regular monitoring and recording of equipment performance indicators e.g. vaccination fridge temperatures.
  • To work within set protocols and do not deviate. Recognise the limitation of your role and do not go beyond this. Ensure that any queries which lie outside the competencies of this role are directed to clinical staff.
  • If involved in Drug and Alcohol testing, be fully competent with the full chain of custody procedures especially in respect of facility preparation, paperwork, handling of samples and the way that testing information is managed to that contract i.e. who the results need to go to.
  • To undertake non-clinical tasks as requested e.g. filing / tidying etc.
  • To undertake additional tasks as requested and which are within the range of your trained competencies such as health promotion activities, First Aid training etc.
  • To maintain a flexible approach to the role according to professional and service needs.
  • To work in accordance with the HP policies and procedures.
  • To undertake any other duties commensurate with the level of the post.

What we are looking for:

There is no recognised professional qualification for this role however suitable backgrounds include: Health Care Assistant; Fitness Instructor; Ambulance EMT; Military Medic; Offshore Medic, etc.

Hours: This is a full time role, working Monday to Thursday between the hours of 8.30am and 4.30pm.

Location: This role is based in Rosyth, Scotland.

Salary: Up to £26,000 FTE depending on qualifications and experience.
