Role and key responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the digital transformation of our Commercial Advisory Practice Group (CAPG) and Corporate Finance Practice Group (CFPG). We are looking to maximise the impact of technology across our product groups, and offices. Service Excellence – CAPG & CFPG is looking for a Junior Technologist with experience in process improvement and configuring digital solutions using data visualisation, artificial intelligence, automation, workflow and no/low-code platforms. Ideally this person will have experience working in Commercial Advisory (Commercial, Competition, Financial Services and Tax) or Corporate Finance (Corporate and Finance) practice areas.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of Legal Technology across CAPG & CFPG. They will be working closely with lawyers, support staff, clients and client relationship partners. They will report to a Senior Legal Technologist.

Skills and experience

Primary responsibilities of the role:

  • Reporting to a Senior Legal Technologist, the Junior Legal Technologist will support the delivery of the legal technology solutions in line with the Service Excellence – CAPG & CFPG strategy.
  • Embeds themselves within CAPG and CFPG as an expert in the technology stack, understanding what is achievable and how, as well as helping to define specific solutions to requirements.
  • Working closely with our lawyers to develop a deep understanding of legal work and existing processes in order to advise and assist them with the implementation of legal technology tools to enhance our client service delivery.
  • Work alongside the lawyers on client facing projects, as the technology SME, under the supervision of the Senior Legal Technologists.
  • Works with stakeholders in driving the awareness and adoption of technology solutions, supporting with any initial issues where appropriate.
  • Helps to support with upskilling stakeholders in the technology stack, across CAPG & CFPG teams and offices. To achieve this the Junior Legal Technologist will be required to work collaboratively with the wider Service Excellence – CAPG & CFPG team, SES team, other practice group technology teams and the fee earners, to share best practice and experiences on how to get the most value.
  • Manages a busy workload day to day with the ability to prioritise work and achieve time sensitive deadlines.
  • Builds excellent relationships within CAPG and CFPG, the other practice groups and with business services teams. Working collaboratively to deliver legal technology solutions that are fit for purpose.
  • Providing insights on legal market and technology trends and investigating new solutions and technologies, to ensure we better address the challenges faced by lawyers. Assisting with the trialling, assessment and embedding of new technology solutions to support lawyers with client work, and achieve excellent client experiences.
  • Assists with any upgrades, integrations or configurations of existing solutions ensuring that solutions are thoroughly tested and any quality issues are resolved. This may require working with the appropriate suppliers and/or other teams.
  • Acts as a point of escalation for any issues identified that cannot be resolved by the Support Teams and responds to them within a timely fashion, managing communications to those impacted accordingly.
  • Takes responsibility for any ongoing/regular maintenance activity required.

  • Has a good technical ability and proficiency with the ability to translate this in to an understandable manner for a variety of audiences to understand. Understanding of transactional pressure, and is willing to work as part of a collaborative team to achieve success.
  • Excellent communication skills in a variety of situations and when dealing with a variety of challenging stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use their expertise to define suitable and quality solutions to complex problems as well as estimate the effort required to deliver them.
  • Confident and credible in dealing with internal and external stakeholders with the ability to build lasting and strong relationships.
  • Innovative and solution oriented with a positive outlook. Excellent time management skills, able to deliver to agreed results whilst managing multiple projects concurrently.
