The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Associate with around 5-8 years' post-qualification experience to join our Core Real Estate team in Edinburgh. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-quality property transactions for a diverse client base, including institutional investors, developers, and corporate occupiers.

Our Team

The Core Real Estate team in Edinburgh forms part of Eversheds Sutherland's market-leading Real Estate practice. This is a dynamic and highly regarded Real Estate team that works on some of Scotland's most significant property transactions. The team is comprised of 2 Paralegals, 1 Trainee, 3 Associates, 1 Senior Associate, 2 Principal Associates, 1 Legal Director and 2 Partners. Together, the team advises institutional investors, developers, and major corporates on acquisitions, disposals, development projects, and asset management as well as providing Scottish real estate support in corporate and finance transactions. We pride ourselves on being approachable, pragmatic, and commercially focused, with a strong collaborative culture and a commitment to developing our people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on a wide range of real estate matters, including acquisitions, disposals, lettings and asset management.
  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts, leases and ancillary documents.
  • Manage transactions from start to finish, ensuring deadlines and client expectations are met.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through excellent service delivery.
  • Play a leading role in local client service teams and supervise junior colleagues at trainee and associate level.

Skills And Experience

  • Qualified solicitor in Scotland with around 5-8 years' post-qualification experience in real estate law.
  • Experience of supervising and mentoring junior lawyers.
  • Strong technical knowledge of property transactions and landlord and tenant matters.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and work under pressure.
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to client services.
  • Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
