We're looking for an ambitious Paralegal to join our Litigation & Dispute Management team in Birmingham. This role offers the opportunity to support senior lawyers in delivering exceptional service across a range of Real Estate Litigation matters.
The Litigation & Dispute Management team is internationally recognised and advises on all property related disputes and contentious portfolio and asset management issues. The team is instructed on a wide range of matters from asset management of nationwide portfolios to high profile court battles over iconic developments.
The Role includes:
- Dealing with the contentious aspects of business property lease renewals under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954, including the service of statutory Section 25 and Section 26 notices and the issuing of court claims for renewal tenancies and interim rent.
- Managing court claims for business lease renewals and interim rent including preparing for case management conferences, collating witness evidence and expert valuation reports and advising on settlement options.
- Dealing with the managed exit of business premises, including the service of contractual break notices and statutory Section 27 notices.
- Handling cases that involve bringing or defending claims relating to tenant compliance, such as rent arrears cases and other breach of covenant claims.
- Extensive contact with clients and intermediaries in order to progress matters and seek and receive instructions from clients.
Skills And Experience:
- Ideally, some previous hands-on experience of working as a paralegal/legal assistant within a commercial real estate litigation legal team.
- A committed team player demonstrating a proactive “can do” attitude.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
- The ability to meet deadlines (a key part of this role).
- A logical and methodical approach to tasks, with an eye for detail and accuracy.
- Self-motivation and dedication to delivering excellent client service at all times.
