Overview
EverQuote is seeking an ML Engineering Manager to join our Belfast team. We’re looking for a technical leader with an entrepreneurial mindset and strong interpersonal skills. As an Engineering Manager, you’ll guide teams to deliver high-quality software, enhance engineering efficiency and culture, and contribute meaningfully to the evolution of our platform and practices.

What You’ll Be Doing
This is a critical leadership role responsible for guiding a team of talented engineers in the design, development, and deployment of our machine learning platforms and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in machine learning, MLOps, and cloud technologies, combined with exceptional leadership and stakeholder management skills. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of our ML capabilities, including our advanced LLM platforms and RAG pipelines.
Essential Criteria
Education & Experience:
- A third-level degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in software engineering, ML or Data Science, with at least 3 years in a leadership role (Engineering Manager or Tech Lead).
- Proven experience managing and growing high-performing machine learning engineering teams.
Technical Skills:
- Deep understanding of MLOps principles and experience building and maintaining ML platforms.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Experience with building LLM platforms, particularly with AWS Bedrock and developing RAG pipelines.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, or Java.
- Familiarity with container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes.
Core Competencies:
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a passion for mentoring and developing talent.
- Excellent stakeholder management abilities, with a knack for understanding user needs and aligning them with technical solutions.
- Strong product sense and the ability to contribute to product strategy and roadmap discussions.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
Desirable Criteria
It would be an advantage if you also possess any of the following:
- Familiarity with data warehousing solutions like Snowflake.
- Knowledge of secure software development and MLOps best practices
- Experience in the insurance or financial technology industries.
- Using GenAI tools across the SDLC
