We are looking for an experienced Store Manager for a National Schoolwear retailer in Oxford to lead the day-to-day operations in a busy store. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth branch operations, delivering exceptional customer service, managing team performance, and achieving operational and financial targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage stock control and inventory levels.
  • Maintain excellent shop floor and stockroom standards.
  • Lead and support branch supervisors.
  • Manage branch financial responsibilities, including staffing budgets, petty cash, and contractor costs.
  • Ensure customer orders are processed efficiently and accurately.
  • Complete daily banking procedures.
  • Prepare and submit end-of-month reports and spreadsheets.
  • Ensure branch dispatch targets are consistently achieved.
  • Recruit, train, develop, and retain team members.
  • Deliver and record ongoing training and development.
  • Identify performance issues and implement improvement plans where required.
  • Work closely with supervisors to achieve and maintain branch standards.
  • Support employee wellbeing and foster a positive working environment.
  • Lead by example in delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Act as the escalation point for customer complaints and queries.
  • Monitor and respond to branch communications.
  • Ensure customer service procedures are consistently followed, including telephone and email standards.
  • Promote a customer-focused culture throughout the branch.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a management role.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
  • Experience managing operational and financial responsibilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using NetSuite or similar business systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
