Multi-brand retailer are seeking an Estate Surveyor into their expanding Property Department. With a growing UK-wide portfolio, this role is a key hire within the team and offers an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded surveyor to take ownership of a varied retail estate. You will play a crucial part in supporting business performance through proactive lease management, rent reviews and renewals, and ensuring both landlord and tenant obligations are delivered effectively. The role also involves working closely with Senior Management and Directors to ensure property decisions align with the wider commercial objectives of the business. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful retailer with an established UK presence and a growing estate. As Estate Surveyor, you will be responsible for:
- Managing a portfolio of retail stores, supporting the business with day-to-day property matters
- Monitoring lease key dates, progressing rent reviews and lease renewals in a timely manner
- Negotiating lease terms, ensuring commercial outcomes align with business strategy
- Handling landlord and tenant disputes promptly, minimising disruption and cost
- Liaising with internal departments to resolve operational property issues efficiently
- Ensuring landlord obligations are met, particularly around repairs and lease compliance
- Managing non-operational premises including vacant units, voids, and commercial/residential sub-tenants
- Challenging and monitoring service charge statements and demands
- Updating and maintaining the property database and core reporting information
- Acting as a key point of reference for property matters across the business
- Reporting into the Head of Estates and deputising where required
To be considered, you will ideally have:
- Proven experience in a similar retail estates / property management role
- Strong negotiation skills with a commercial and pragmatic approach
- Solid knowledge of commercial leases and lease obligations
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change
- Experience managing a varied and geographically diverse property portfolio
- Previous exposure to a retail environment (preferred)
- A hands-on attitude with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset
- A strong desire to exceed expectations and deliver results
