As a WCA Functional Assessor, your working day becomes less about treatment and hands-on care and more about assessment, clinical reasoning, communication and evidence-based reporting. You'll assess how physical and mental health conditions affect an individual's functional ability in relation to work. No treatment. No prescribing. No manual handling. No nights or weekends.
Where your clinical skills come in:
- Assess individuals with physical and mental health conditions
- Explore symptoms, treatment, history and day-to-day function
- Question effectively to gather relevant clinical information
- Review medical evidence and supporting documentation
- Reason using your clinical judgement to consider function, variability and risk
- Report your findings through detailed, evidence-based clinical reports

Do you have the experience? We're looking for:RGN | RMN | RNLD | Physiotherapist | Occupational TherapistYou'll need:
- Active NMC or HCPC registration with no restrictions
- 12+ months' post-registration UK adult clinical experience
- Strong clinical assessment and communication skills
- Experience producing detailed clinical reports and evidence-based documentation
- Confident IT skills and ability to work across digital systems
New to WCA assessment? That's not a problem.
You don't need previous Functional Assessor experience. You'll receive comprehensive, fully paid training to help you transfer your existing clinical knowledge into the role, with ongoing support as you develop.
