Functional Assessor (Adult Registered Clinicians)

Taunton, Devon | Hybrid Working (70% Remote / 30% Site-Based)
£42,000 per annum + Up to 10% Bonus
Permanent | Full Time | Monday to Friday | 8:30am–5:00pm
Looking for a better work-life balance? I'm recruiting experienced healthcare professionals who are ready to move away from shift work while continuing to use their clinical expertise in a rewarding, non-treatment role.
As a Functional Assessor, you'll carry out structured assessments, review medical evidence and produce clear, evidence-based reports that help support important decisions. You'll continue to use your clinical judgement every day—just in a different setting.
This role involves no prescribing, no manual handling and no hands‑on patient care.

What You'll Be Doing
- Conducting telephone, video and face‑to‑face functional assessments
- Reviewing medical records and supporting clinical evidence
- Assessing how physical and mental health conditions impact daily living and functional ability
- Producing detailed, evidence‑based reports
- Applying your clinical judgement to reach balanced, accurate conclusions
- Working independently within a supportive multidisciplinary clinical team
You’ll work with adults presenting with a wide range of conditions, including musculoskeletal, neurological, mental health, chronic pain, fatigue and sensory impairments.
What We're Looking For
- Current NMC or HCPC registration
- A background as one of the following:
- Registered General Nurse (RGN)
- Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)
- Registered Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD)
- Physiotherapist
- Occupational Therapist
- A minimum of 12 months’ post‑registration clinical experience
- At least 12 months’ UK adult clinical experience
- Experience working with adult patients in acute, community, rehabilitation or mental health settings
- Strong clinical reasoning, communication and report writing skills
- Good IT skills

You’ll receive a structured 7‑week paid training programme, along with ongoing clinical supervision, mentoring and professional development to help you build a successful long‑term career as a Functional Assessor.
