Serco is recruiting Work Capability Assessment (WCA) Assessors to join our Health Assessment Services team. This role offers the opportunity to use your clinical expertise in a non-treatment environment, carrying out impartial assessments that help determine how a person's health condition or disability affects their ability to work.

The Role
As a WCA Assessor, you'll conduct structured assessments with individuals claiming health-related benefits. You'll review medical evidence, complete telephone, video, or face-to-face consultations, and produce clear, evidence-based reports to support decision-making by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
This is an independent clinical role where you'll use your professional judgement to assess the functional impact of a person's condition rather than diagnose or provide treatment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Conducting Work Capability Assessments in line with DWP guidance.
- Reviewing medical records and supporting evidence before each assessment.
- Completing structured consultations with claimants in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Assessing how physical, mental health, cognitive, or sensory conditions affect a person's functional capability.
- Producing accurate, objective, and evidence-based reports.
- Managing your caseload while maintaining high clinical and quality standards.
- Working closely with clinical leaders and quality teams to ensure continuous improvement.
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
- Current registration with the NMC or HCPC (Nurse, Paramedic, Physiotherapist, or Occupational Therapist).
- A minimum of 12 months' post-registration clinical experience.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making abilities.
- Good IT skills and confidence using digital systems.
- A professional, empathetic, and impartial approach to assessments.
Previous experience in disability assessment or WCA is welcome but not essential, as full paid training and ongoing clinical support are provided.
