We're looking for Health and Disability Assessors to join the Medacs team across a number of locations. This is a clinically focused role where you'll use your existing healthcare experience in a different way, carrying out functional assessments and producing evidence-based reports. You'll receive a structured training programme, ongoing support and the opportunity to increase your earnings through a range of performance and development-related bonuses.
The Package
- £39,500 starting salary
- £1,000 salary increase after 12 months, subject to quality, attendance and performance
- £1,000 training approval bonus if you successfully complete your training approval within your first 6 months
- Up to 15% annual performance bonus, assessed quarterly against quality, targets and performance

- Monday to Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm
- Hybrid working 3 days office-based and 2 days working from home

Training & Support
You don't need previous experience as a Health and Disability Assessor. You'll receive a comprehensive training programme before completing assessments independently. The training pathway includes:
- 2-day induction in Leeds, with expenses covered
- Time at your base location with your manager
- 6 weeks of virtual training
- Up to 2 weeks on-site with a dedicated mentor
Please note: Annual leave cannot be taken during the first 8 weeks of employment. Leave requested between weeks 8 and 12 will be considered by the manager on a case-by-case basis. Please take this into account when considering your start date.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Health and Disability Assessor, you'll use your clinical knowledge to understand how an individual's health condition or disability affects their day-to-day functioning. You’ll:
- Carry out functional assessments
- Review medical evidence and supporting information
- Explore the impact of physical and mental health conditions
- Apply your clinical knowledge and judgement
- Produce clear, accurate and evidence-based reports
- Work to defined quality and performance standards

What We're Looking For
You'll need:
- Current NMC, HCPC or GPhC registration
- Relevant post-registration clinical experience
- Strong communication and report-writing skills
- Good IT skills
- Ability to work confidently with clinical scenarios
- Commitment to quality and performance standards
- Minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute
You’ll also need to be comfortable completing assessments involving typed responses and screen sharing.
Recruitment Process
The process is straightforward:
- Initial pre-screen: We'll have an informal conversation about your experience, the role and whether it's right for you.
- Clinical scenario assessment: A 30-minute Teams assessment involving clinical scenarios and typed responses. Screen sharing is required.
- Typing assessment: A 5-minute typing test with a target of 35 words per minute. Some flexibility may be available depending on circumstances.
- Interview: A face-to-face interview is preferred. Teams interviews may be considered in exceptional circumstances, subject to office availability. Interview dates will depend on both candidate and team availability.
Compliance Requirements
Enhanced DBS and other compliance checks must be completed before you can start. Please allow approximately 6 weeks for this process. Additional approval may be required through the DWP process if you have:
- Current or previous governing body sanctions
- Previous convictions
- A dismissal within the last 3 years
- A referral to a governing body
- Employment gaps of more than 3 months within the last 2 years
