Our client, a successful stylish fashion retailer, is looking to recruit an experienced Merchandiser, or an ambitious Junior Merchandiser ready to take the next step in their career.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a commercially driven merchandising team where you will play a key role in planning, trading and stock management across multiple product categories.
You'll work closely with Buying, Product Development and Retail teams to maximise sales, optimise stock performance and drive profitability.
Based at the company's Head Office this role offers excellent career development within an established and highly respected retail business.
The Role
Reporting into the Head of Merchandising, you will take ownership of divisional planning and trading, ensuring the right product is available at the right time, in the right quantities, across the retail estate.
You'll combine analytical thinking with commercial awareness to identify opportunities, react to market trends and deliver strong trading results.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement departmental sales, profit and stock strategies using historical data, customer insight and market trends.
- Lead range planning, sales forecasting, space planning and profit optimisation across your category.
- Ensure product assortments are balanced and commercially relevant, with the appropriate depth and breadth of stock across stores.
- Plan cost prices, retail prices and intake volumes to deliver margin and sell-through targets.
- Analyse weekly sales, stock and profit performance, taking proactive action to maximise opportunities and minimise risk.
- Plan and evaluate promotional activity, measuring performance and adapting future plans accordingly.
- Manage stock availability through effective allocation, replenishment and Open-to-Buy management.
- Control monthly intake plans, ensuring stock profiles support seasonal trading requirements.
- Build strong working relationships with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and excellent service levels.
- Monitor competitor activity and store performance through regular analysis and store visits.
- Lead, coach and develop the Allocator team, promoting accuracy, accountability and continuous improvement.
About You
We're looking for someone who is commercially focused, analytical and passionate about product.
You will ideally have
- Previous experience as a Merchandiser or Junior Merchandiser within fashion or retail.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret trading data.
- Experience of planning, forecasting and stock management.
- Excellent commercial awareness and decision-making ability.
- Strong Excel and merchandising systems knowledge.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The confidence to influence decisions across Buying and Merchandising teams.
- Previous experience managing or mentoring team members would be advantageous.
