Functional Assessor – Nurse, Physio, OT or Param edic
Salary: £42,985
Hours: Monday – Friday (9am – 5pm)
Essential Criteria:
- Registered healthcare professional (NMC/HCPC registration required).
- Minimum of one years’ post-registration clinical experience.
- Strong written and verbal clinical communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a clinical caseload efficiently.
- Experience working with complex health conditions
Role Summary:
The Functional Assessor conducts independent assessments of individuals with health conditions or disabilities applying for Personal Independence Payment (PIP). The role requires producing comprehensive, evidence-based reports for the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP). The assessor is not responsible for benefit entitlement decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct telephone, video, or face-to-face assessments of claimants,
- Perform thorough evaluations to determine how a claimant’s disability or health condition affects daily living.
- Assess individuals with a range of physical, mental health, cognitive, and sensory impairments.
- Produce impartial, accurate, and high-quality written reports using a designated IT system.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, and assessment criteria.
- Adhere to all professional standards, including Safeguarding, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Data Protection, and Risk Management.
